TV comedy series star fuels speculation it’s coming back after ‘frustrating ending’

In 2023 fans of the sports comedy-drama were left heartbroken after it was reported the show would be wrapping up.
Created by and starring Jason Sudeikis, the Apple TV Plus series followed the titular character, an American college football coach hired to coach the fictional Richmond FC. Although many were sure his efforts would be futile, the at times clueless coach managed to prove he had what it took to motivate the players and bring them back from relegation.
The first season, which aired in 2020, was called ‘pure gold’, a ‘warm delight’ and ‘straight up perfection by some fans, while it was nominated for a jaw-dropping 20 Emmy Awards. It was then followed by two subsequent seasons, which aired in 2021 and 2023.
Although Brett Goldstein, who played the foul-mouthed footballer Roy Kent, previously said the third season would be the last, there’s been signs that might no longer be the case. Nick Mohammed, who played kit man turned assistant coach Nate Shelley, has been one of the stars driving the speculation.
The actor, 44, has been declared a ‘saviour’ after a recent social media post. In the clip Nick, also a comedian, explained how some of the dates for his stand-up ‘Show Pony’ tour had to be rescheduled. ‘I know there’ll be a lot of speculation as to why I moved these dates… I’ll be honest, it is for some filming that I’ve not been able to shift,’ he began.
