Watching ITV's new drama Out There will feel very close to home for farm owner Gina-Lorraine Murray. The 55-year-old rented out her 500-year-old farmhouse, which has been in her family for generations, to the production company behind the gritty show. The talented TV crew transformed her property to become the home of Martin Clunes' latest character, Nathan Williams, a single Welsh farmer whose son is drawn into the underbelly of the drugs world.
Spiritual healer Gina shares her picturesque farmhouse in Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales, with her farmer husband, 49, and their dogs, cats, chickens, geese and ducks. Their home, Darrow Farm, proved to be the perfect idyllic scene for the series, which follows grieving father Nathan confronted with dark forces creeping into his rural community.
Speaking to The Mirror about how she signed her farmhouse up to become a filming location with Wales Screen, Gina said: "We've been at Darrow Farm for years - it's been in the family a long time. The house itself is 500 years old and has seen better days. It's just the two of us here with our cats and dogs, and it's a working farm, so it's always busy.".
Gina always liked the idea of putting her home forward for television work but had no idea where to start - until a client put her in touch with a location manager at Screen Wales. He went to view their farm and decided it would be the perfect location for the ITV series. "Before I knew it, Martin Clunes' wife Philippa, turned up with a big group of people to look around," Gina said.
