DESPOT Kim Jong-un has banned hot dogs for being too Western. The tyrant has told North Koreans that serving a popular dish made using the sausages is an act of treason. Anyone caught selling them on the streets or cooking them at home risks deportation to labour camps.

But eating canines is still allowed in the rogue state. The decree is the latest example of Pyongyang cracking down on what it sees as the invasion of Western culture. Budae-jjigae — a spicy noodle soup made using hot dogs or Spam — was imported from pro-Western South Korea in 2017.

But a vendor in the northern province of Ryanggang said: “Sales of budae-jjigae in the market have stopped. “The police and market management have said anyone caught selling it will be shut down.”. The dictator has also ordered divorcing couples be sent to a labour camp to atone for their “crimes”.
He wants both to serve up to six months as a split is seen as “anti-socialist”. And in December, he warned any North Korean celebrating Christmas could face execution. KIM Jong-un has ruled North Korea with an iron first since 2011 - but concerns over his health have raised questions about who his heir will be.
