Brits have been urged to follow these essential steps "before disaster strikes" amid Storm Eowyn weather warnings. Areas across the UK have been hit by strong winds travelling up to 100mph. People living in Northern Ireland and Scotland are particularly at risk as both places were plunged under red weather warnings on Friday. According to weather maps by WX Charts, the storm is expected to still remain prominent on Saturday.

Meteorologists from the University of Reading warned people to prepare for the disastrous weather. Under their warning, the experts stressed the storms can "transform everyday objects into dangerous missiles". Professor Hannah Cloke said: “The damage we're seeing in red warning areas shows their importance. Storms tear roofs from buildings and transform everyday objects into dangerous missiles.

"With alerts continuing through to Sunday, conditions can change rapidly. What starts as a calm morning in your garden can escalate quickly. These warnings aren't overcautious bureaucracy - they're essential protection for our communities. "Take precautions while alerts remain active, regardless of your local conditions. Every warning level matters." Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez urged people to avoid travelling where possible. “The level of danger from Storm Eowyn is already quite clear given the widespread disruption in Ireland," he said.
