Urgent red flag warnings for LA amid fires as public told to be ‘ready’ to leave As Los Angeles continues to suffer under the unprecedented destruction of multiple wildfires, the the California Department of Foresty and Fire Protection has issued an urgent warning to residents of Southern California as life-threatening winds bring even further danger to those living throughout the county.
In addition, they also gave a number of tips to help minimise the destruction, such as avoiding mowing or trimming dry grass on windy days, not parking on dry grass, completely extinguishing campfires and reporting any signs of suspicious activity to try and prevent arson.
Life-threatening winds and dangerously low humidity are forecast for much of Southern California - from Ventura to San Diego - creating a significant risk of rapid fire spread.
The warning was issued at 2:20pm local time (or 10:20pm GMT) which indicated a critical red flag warning was in effect, that urged residents to be “ready to go” should conditions worsen.
