Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park is over the moon as his latest creation, 'Vengeance Most Fowl', bags an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. The festive-favourite from the BBC revisits notorious villain Feathers McGraw from their previous Academy Award-winning escapade, 'The Wrong Trousers'. With the Oscars buzz building, it's 'Emilia Perez' leading the nominations stage with a staggering 13 nods announced last Thursday, while the likes of 'Wicked' and 'The Brutalist' are hot on its heels with 10 nominations each.
On BBC Breakfast, Park couldn't hide his delight on Friday, proclaiming he felt "ecstatic" and admitted that no matter how many accolades Aardman Animations racks up—four Oscars to date—you never quite get accustomed to such honours. The studio's first Oscar was snagged by 'Creature Comforts' in 1989, followed by the Wallace and Gromit hit 'The Wrong Trousers' in 1994, 'A Close Shave' in 1996, and the feature-length 'The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' in 2005.
Moreover, the newest nod for Wallace & Gromit: 'Vengeance Most Fowl' comes on top of three Bafta nominations including Best Animated Film, Outstanding British Film, and Children’s and Family Film. Park reflected: "You can’t expect it and we didn’t make the film for this, and it still comes as an incredible thrill just to be counted up there.".
"Every artist loves to (have) their work rewarded in some way or other. And it’s a great reflection on our amazing team of animators and all the talented director of photography, and everything that’s gone into the music, everything’s gone into the film, so many people have worked so hard.".
