Getting cheated on is a dealbreaker for most. Many things can cause a relationship to break down, but the most common reason is often a lack of trust. Whether your partner has been keeping secrets or they've gone behind your back to do something like cheat on you, there's not much that can salvage a romance which has been torn apart by one party being untrustworthy.
Some people can work out their issues to keep their relationship afloat despite infidelity, especially if the person who cheated deeply regrets their actions and the other person is willing to forgive them. But one woman has found out the hard way that not everyone is willing to change their behaviours to avoid a breakup - even if they're the ones at fault.
In a post on Reddit, the 30-year-old woman explained her 40-year-old boyfriend of one year recently cheated on her with one of his friends while she was away on a training course for work. She was away for two months and had been planing on moving in with him when she got back - until she found out he had been cheating on her.
She said: "He didn't tell me not to go, but he was upset we'd be apart for that long. After I found out about the cheating (I had a gut feeling, messaged the friend, and she told me everything), he admitted he never wanted me to go and was resentful of me for not just moving straight in with him.".
The woman initially dumped him as soon as she found out "how deeply he lied", but a month later they started talking again. However, before she forgives him and rekindles their romance, she wants him to do one thing - cut off contact with the friend he cheated on her with.
