MOVE over burgandy, there's a new viral colour in town. Over the autumn everyone was wearing pretty plummy shades, including us at For EveryBody. But for party season, there's a new winter shade that's taken over - beautiful brown. I'm a 44-year-old size 10 while my work bestie Katy is a self-confessed big-boobed size 18.
And in our latest festive partywear haul we found the ideal skirt in the new cosy colour of the season. I am a sucker for sequins but I was sceptical about brown shades, it's just not the most exciting colour and I wasn't sure it would suit me. But this gorgeous, bronze a-line midi skirt from Tu at Sainsbury's fits like an absolute dream.
Unlike some sequined garments, which can be scratchy and uncomfortable, this is super soft. It has a lovely, plush velvet under the sparkles which makes it even more lux. What I loved about this particular skirt is that it dresses up and down. I styled it with a gorgeous, roll neck, sleeveless cable knit jumper, also from Tu, and plan to wear this for New Year's day dinner.
It's stretchy enough to hide a multitude of steak pie sins - and suited both our shapes, flattering our curves without feeling too tight. But it could also easily be dressed up with a slinkier top and heels for a Hogmanay party. And it's an absolute steal - originally being sold for £25 and now reduced to £12.50.
Shoppers are also loving the skirt. One said: "I bought this a week ago and have worn to three Christmas events already.". Another gushed: "Delighted with the way the skirt hangs and moves as I walk. Fit flattering and light bounces off sequins. Perfect for Christmas and New Year.".
