One of the three people stabbed in a triple attack at a Wetherspoons pub was the landlady, as major updates are confirmed. The Navigation Inn in Kings Norton, Birmingham, was closed on Sunday after three people were stabbed on Saturday night. A teenager has now been charged over the incident, after a further two were also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Police were called to the pub at 11.15pm on Saturday, with two men and a woman - the pub's manager - having all been taken to hospital with knife wounds. A Wetherspoons spokesperson has confirmed the woman's injuries required surgery but were not life-threatening.
"She is not in a life-threatening situation but is having surgery," the pub chain said. "The pub is closed today while police carry out forensics. This was a serious incident at the pub and we are assisting the police. It is horrendous that two people were stabbed and our thoughts are with them and their family and friends.”.
West Midlands Police has confirmed three people were injured in the stabbing. Kadeem Russell, 19, from West Bromwich, was charged with three counts of wounding, possessing a blade and driving offences, it was confirmed on Monday. He was remanded into custody ahead of an appearance at Birmingham magistrates court on Monday.
Two other men, aged 20 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. They are currently in custody for questioning. In an earlier statement, the force said: "We've arrested three men after three people were injured in a stabbing at a pub in Birmingham. We were called to the Navigation Inn on Wharf Road in Kings Norton at around 11.15pm yesterday.
