Severance finally returns to screens this week, almost three years since its debut. From executive producer Ben Stiller, the dystopian workplace thriller became a huge hit when it launched in February 2022, earning acclaim from both critics and general audiences.
In the series, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at biotechnology company Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a procedure to surgically divide their memories between their work and personal lives, referred to as ‘Innies’ and ‘Outies’, respectively. The daring experiment in work-life balance is called into question as Mark finds himself at the centre of an unravelling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work and of himself.
In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe. Alongside Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott, season two also sees the return of Zach Cherry and Britt Lower as Mark’s colleagues Dylan and Helly.

John Turturro and Christopher Walken also reprise their roles, with Patricia Arquette back as the former head of Lumon’s severed floor, Harmony. Joining the cast in season two are newcomer Sarah Bock, The Tourist’s Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie.
Ahead of its return, Severance’s second season has earned overwhelming praise from critics and bagged a Certified Fresh 94% Rotten Tomatoes score. Empire is just one of the publications saying it was ‘worth the wait’, while Rolling Stone said it ‘hasn’t missed a step’.
