Romantic drama film We Live in Time has landed in cinemas today (Wednesday 1st January) and fans are already buzzing over the chemistry between lead stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. The film is presented in a nonlinear narrative and spans over three different timelines as the characters Tobias and Almut deal with everything from marriage, children and life-threatening illnesses.
Principal photography began back in April 2023, with the film being shot in both South London and England's Surrey County. The characters live in Herne Hill in particular and so a lot of the filming was carried out in that area. Andrew, Florence and the crew were spotted filming at various specific locations including Brockwell Park, Texaco petrol station in Orpington, Herne Hill station square and Blackfen's Co-Op.
Die-hard fans can trace the character's footsteps in the film as all of the aforementioned locations are open to the Great British public. Director John Crowley worked closely with production designer Alice Normington to show the locations in an authentic light as well as weaving them into the characters lives.
He revealed: "We talked a lot about how certain places become part of your DNA. Alice did a wonderful job working not only with the couple’s various work and nesting spaces but also with the very liminal spaces that are important to the film: roads and petrol stations and convenience stores that are expressive of contemporary urban life.".
