The World Darts Championship has served up an electric week of action so far but fans will be disappointed to learn that the tournament at Ally Pally will be taking a break for Christmas. Monday's darts saw former world champion Rob Cross and Dave Chisnall dumped out as Ricky Evans, Scott Williams and Daryl Gurney were among the names who progressed on an exciting day in front of a rapturous crowd.

Fans were treated to some Christmas classics as Cross lost 3-1 to Williams, while Chisnall was beaten 3-2 by Evans in a thriller - with a record 14 seeds crashing out of the tournament in the second round. The darts will now take a three-day festive break so fans will have to pack up their fancy dress costumes for now, with no action in store on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

The competition will resume at Ally Pally on Friday, December 27 for four days before taking another short pause on New Years' Eve. The Championship will wrap up with the final on January 3. Friday's session will see Gurney rewarded for his superb win over Florian Hempel with a showdown against world no 7 Jonny Clayton, while Gerwen Price will take on Joe Cullen.

Meanwhile, Peter "Snakebite" Wright faces Jermaine Wattimena and reigning champion Luke Humphries plays Nick Kenny. The other match on Friday will be Stephen Bunting against Madars Razma. Those waiting to see Luke Littler back in action will have to wait until Saturday as he locks horns with world 57 Ian White in the last match of the session.
