World-famous supermodel Helena Christensen could soon be appearing at Burnley’s homely Turf Moor. East Lancashire is far removed from the glitz and glamour of the catwalk in New York or Paris, but Christensen may soon be seen there. The famous beauty is the aunt of Burnley’s first January signing Oliver Sonne, a £2.5million capture from Silkeborg, and he says she has always promised him she would come and watch him.

Sonne’s mum Anita is the younger sister of Christensen and he hopes she will come to see him play in the Championship with the Clarets after falling to make it to a Silkeborg game. “Maybe she will come,” said the right-back, who has won 10 caps for Peru and qualifies for the South American country through his grandmother Elsa, who is Christensen’s mum.

“She told me she would. She told me she wanted to come and watch me for Silkeborg, but never came. But maybe now the club is a little bigger?”. Christensen, 56, rose to fame in the 1990s and she has appeared on the front covers of Vogue, Elle and Tatler. She was dubbed one of The Magnificent Seven in the mid-90s as one of the world’s top supermodels. Sonne, 24, has also modelled like his famous aunt and has walked down the catwalk for Gucci and Armani.

Sonne, who has made nearly 100 Danish Superliga appearances for Silksborg, claims modelling helped boost his confidence and make him more outgoing. “It was amazing for me to get out into the world and try to do something else besides playing soccer, meet new people and meet new industries,” he said.
