A woman who stalked Joey Essex and ‘threatened to kill’ his former partner Jessy Potts has been arrested. The female, who is in her 40s, sent Joey, 34, more than 100,000 text messages. The sinister social media contact included the woman threatening to ‘shoot the s***’ out of Jessy, who he was briefly in a relationship with after leaving Love Island. The woman also labelled Jessy a ‘flat sl**’ and ‘b****’.
After the messages became more serious, Joey and his team decided to report the incidents to the police in August. A woman in Stockport has now had her electronic devices including a mobile phone seized by Cheshire authorities, claims The Sun. After her arrest, she was released on bail under strict conditions not to contact Joey, or travel to London and Essex.
The Cheshire police said in a statement to Metro: ‘We can confirm a 34-year-old woman from the Poynton area has been arrested on suspicion of stalking. The woman has been released on conditional bail until February while enquiries continue.’. A source close to Joey told the publication that he is ‘relieved’ that the woman has been found.
At the time of reporting the stalking, Joey said: ‘We have had to take the decision to report the stalker to the police because the messages have started to become more threatening,’ he said. ‘I love my fans and want to be able to talk to them online but there has to be a line somewhere and sadly this is it.’.
On top of sending Joey countless private messages, the woman also left public comments on his social media updates. They included ‘just call me annoying again that’s what you get when your insecure in yourself’. She also told Joey to ‘sort your insecurity out’ and ‘find your own friends’.
