WWE star JD McDonagh suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs after attempting a springboard moonsault live on RAW. McDonagh was competing for the World Tag Team Championships, with the Irishman and his Judgement Day stablemate Dominik Mysterio taking on the War Raiders. During the match, McDonagh went for a springboard moonsault off the middle rope.
However, after landing on his opponent, McDonagh hit the announce table hard and his head snapped back. "Somebody's got to McDonagh after that," WWE commentator Michael Cole said as they showed a replay of the incident. "McDonagh's lucky he doesn't have a damn broken neck!" McDonagh ended up finishing the match, which ended with the War Raiders retaining their titles after hitting their War Machine finishing move on Mysterio.
However, McDonagh was taken to hospital after the match and the 34-year-old has revealed he is facing a "couple months" on the sidelines with a punctured lung and broken ribs. Taking to social media, McDonagh wrote: "First off, thanks to everyone for the messages and the concern. I'm good.
"I've got a couple of broken ribs and a punctured lung, so I'm going to be out for a couple months. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse, so I'm grateful for that. See ya in a bit.". Several of McDonagh's WWE colleagues also wished him well, with Chad Gable writing: "JD McDonagh is remarkable." One half of the War Raiders, Ivar, also shared some images from the match and wrote "respect", along with a prayer emoji.
