This brainteaser might send you shuddering back to being called on in your maths lessons at school. Versions of this maths puzzle have circulated online for nearly a decade, but every time one does the rounds, people are regularly stumped by it. This one was posted on X - formerly known as Twitter - and there was little consensus amongst the social media users who commented on how to figure it out.

The tricky brainteaser uses fruit instead of numerical digits in the sum, before presenting you with a number answer. There are three rows that come with a solution, which provides you with crucial information on how to solve the fourth and final equation.

In the first question, three red apples are added together and equal 30. In the second, there is only one red apple, added to two bunches of bananas, and this equation comes to 18. The third row shows a bunch of bananas minus two coconuts, which equals two. In the equation you are challenged to solve, there a coconut, an apple, and a bunch of bananas are added together - can you figure out what the solution to this puzzle is?.

In each of these equations, each picture of the fruits represents a different number, but it's not necessarily as simple as you might expect. When we learn maths at school, we are often presented with symbols instead of digits, for instance, an exam or test may have challenged you back in the day to find the value of 'x' in an equation.
