Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has admitted she cried during the limo lake stunt filming. As the ITV soap reached a conclusion after a week of drama tonight, we learned that many had died. Suzy was the first person to die in sad scenes from a head injury, whilst Leyla succumbed to her injuries in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
In heartbreaking scenes, we also lost Amy after she fell into the water. She was rescued but sadly died too in hospital, leaving the whole village grieving for the loss of their loved ones. Michelle Hardwick - who plays Vanessa on the ITV soap - has now revealed how heartbreaking the scenes were to film, as she admitted she even broke down in tears off camera as she struggled with the scenes.
Speaking about Suzy's exit, she said of Martelle Edinborough - who plays her on-screen girlfriend: "It was Martelle’s last few days filming as well. It was really hard and really upsetting. It was one in the morning and it was just heartbreaking to film.
"It was really sad and because it was in the middle of December and your emotions are heightened anyway, there was one point I just broke down in tears. It all really got quite a lot. It was bittersweet because it was one of the best things I’ve ever filmed in my career because it was being on a Hollywood film set. It was unbelievable.".
Vanessa is lost without Suzy - as the pair had been enjoying a romance before the devastating crash. "It’s so heartbreaking. Suzy dies instantly from the impact from the crash from a head injury. It’s all sheer panic - and you’ve got Dr Cavanagh saying she’s passed. I remember thinking, how would you react?" she told The Mirror and other press.
"You’d either go hysterical and start screaming or you’d just go into absolute shock and you can’t believe it. The point where Vanessa has to leave her in there, it was so heartbreaking. It was horrific, it was so upsetting to do.". Whatever happens, it looks like more deaths could be on the cards. Three residents dying in one accident is a tragedy, but with a body under the icy lake, what will happen - and who will pay for that death when the village finally finds out?.
