Priced at £19.50, the delectable sandwich is dubbed 'The Big Matt' and also includes shredded lettuce, onion and special sauce. It arrives alongside a generous portion of beef dripping fries. The burger amassed hundreds of adoring fans when it was added the Hawksmoor menus in 2017 and it was even was even ranked as the world's best burger in 2023 by World's Best Steak Restaurants. However, much to the disappointment of fans, the meal was axed from London menus in 2022 and only briefly returned to Edinburgh and Liverpool venues last year.

Elsewhere in Manchester, snubbed burger lovers haven't been able to get their hands on the treat since 2017 when it was first created by the chain's executive chef, Matt Brown. Now, burger lovers will be able to nab one of the delicious meals at the steakhouse chain - which has a handful of venues across the UK including in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh. But those hoping to sink their teeth into the multi-layered sandwich will have to be quick as it will only be available for a limited period of six months.

Revealing the news on Instagram, the chain wrote: 'Right, enough’s enough. Here it is... It’s our taste-bomb tribute to the most famous of all the burgers. The Big Matt – named after the very man who created it, Matt Brown.'. Fans were left drooling over the welcome return of the burger, with several expressing their excitement in the comments of the post. The return was announced as part of a menu shake-up, with the chain adding six new items to it's lunchtime specials. Additionally, the Hawksmoor will be added a succulent 35-day dry aged rump steak and Café de Paris butter, served with beef-dripping fries and a steakhouse salad for £26. The steakhouse has also added a roast hake with woodland mushrooms, creamed potatoes and lemon butter sauce for £26.
Another new addition is a £24 charcoal roasted chicken, with roast garlic, lemon and parsley. And for the vegans, there is the option of charcoal roasted butternut squash, shiitake and oyster mushrooms with cashew ricotta priced at just £10. The news comes after this year's UK best burger was awarded first prize. Black Bear was crowned the winner at the cooking competition on Tuesday after chef Stewart Down wowed a panel of industry judges with his signature creation.
The winning burger featured two 45-day aged beef patties, cheese, smoked bacon, miso butter mayo and onion, sandwiched between a bespoke sesame seed bun. Black Bear has sites across London including in Exmouth Market, Brixton, Victoria, Canary Wharf, Shoreditch and Camden. Mr Down revealed he was surprised at winning this year after two unsuccessful attempts at the top spot. He said: 'I was pretty surprised. We've competed two times before – came third last year and won the Bloggers' Choice Award after that, but this was the one we wanted. 'We've been going for over seven years and this is recognition, as we've been so focused on doing burgers the best we possibly can.
'To come here and get something like this is pretty special. This changes things. We've seen the past winners, and they are big, impressive names. To be up there with the likes of them is amazing.'. The burger expert beat his fellow chefs in a close run competition and his trophy follows the chef and restaurant owner's win at the ten-year anniversary Champion of Champions event last September, where he was presented with the Bloggers' Choice Award.
