Gerwyn Price has accused Mike De Decker and Dave Chisnall of ‘throwing their toys out of the pram’ amid complaints over the Premier League darts line-up. The Iceman is among the wildcard picks for the annual darting roadshow, which begins in Belfast on February 6, despite a disappointing 2024. Price and Nathan Aspinall’s inclusion in the eight-player line-up has not gone down well with some rival players, namely World Grand Prix champion De Decker and world No.6 Dave Chisnall.
De Decker has let rip in Belgian media, calling his omission “scandalous” and stating that Price and Aspinall shouldn’t be on the cast list. The world No.24 even took aim at Aspinall’s popular walk-on song, Mr Brightside by The Killers, saying: "Aspinall is there with his walk-on purely for the entertainment, and if Price performs badly in the first few weeks, he will start complaining again.”.
Chisnall, the highest-ranked player not to be picked, also took a pop at Aspinall and his entrance music, saying in his blog: “It’s a great entrance, but it should be about the darts, and not your walk-on that gets you involved in these big competition.” He added that Price and Aspinall were “lucky” to be included.
Price responded to those complaints as he defended his and Aspinall’s inclusion. The Welshman told talkSPORT: "I mean every player, Dave Chisnall, Mike De Decker, they always have their opinions. "They are right to have a say, but the PDC put in who they want to put in. I think the likes of me and Nathan Aspinall have been consistent for the last eight or nine years throughout the PDC, not just the Premier League.
