Mohamed Salah appreciates the confrontational nature of Liverpool boss Arne Slot – who he commends for ‘having no ego’. Since the Dutchman’s arrival on Merseyside, the Reds – led by their Egyptian talisman – have been near faultless. They hold a six-point lead atop the Premier League table while still having a game in hand, and they have won each of their first six Champions League games.

The 46-year-old has managed to get a tune out of Salah specifically – regardless of the contract saga he finds himself embroiled in – as he currently leads the race for the Premier League Golden Boot with 18 goals in just 19 matches, as well as a staggering 13 assists to boot.

Liverpool’s star forward has now commended the recently-arrived Slot, appreciating his straight-talking nature and lack of an ego when dealing with his players – as well as admitting his surprise at how immediately successful the new boss has been since replacing the charismatic Jurgen Klopp.

“Am I surprised [by Slot's progress]? Yes,” Salah told TNT Sports Mexico. “Well, before I worked with him, I didn’t expect this, but now I work with him, I see how into details he is and how he focuses on the small things. "He doesn’t have an ego. And that’s it. So it is not a surprise any more. He likes confrontation, which is good, which is good. Somehow, it’s good, not always, but it is good. He tells you things straight in your face straight away.

“I think it’s very important for the players to know what the manager wants. He really explains it really well, like it is black and white. So take it or leave it. He’s very good, tactically he’s very good. He is more into details; he tries to change stuff for each team, so hopefully, we carry on like this.”.
