Hugh Grant was joined by his rarely-seen wife as he scrubbed up to attend the 2025 BAFTAs in London on Sunday night. The 64-year-old actor was nominated in the Best Actor category for his role as Mr. Reed in the horror film Heretic. But far from looking a fright on the red carpet on Sunday night, Hugh looked like a winner as he turned up in a sharp tuxedo and crisp white shirt for the 2025 BAFTAs. He was joined by his 42-year-old wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein - who he has been married to since 2018 and with whom he shares three of his five children. Anna attended the event at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday night wearing a black minidress coated in silver sequins.

The couple flashed winning smiles as they arrived at the ceremony with their arms around each other. The duo followed in the footsteps of A List stars including Pamela Anderson and Demi Moore who were also in attendance for the ceremony - which could see Hugh walk away with a gong for his role in the terrifying flick Heretic. A horror film is something of a break from tradition for the actor - who carved out a career appearing in rom-coms including Notting Hill and Bridget Jones. Reflecting on his past roles, the actor told Variety last month: "I really appreciate the good ones I did. The Richard Curtis ones are really about pain. It’s something my wife spotted. She’s Swedish; they’re good on pain.

"She was watching Love Actually, and she said, 'Everyone’s in pain, and the humor is all a means for dealing with pain.' That’s what makes them sustain and not float away like a piece of fluff. The Marc Lawrence ones I did are also great because he genuinely loves people and there’s a warmth that I find enchanting. Because I’ve seen the romantic comedies that are slightly put together by committee, and they don’t work as well.".

On Sunday night, Hugh was ready to battle for the Best Actor gong against The Brutalists's Adrien Brody, A Complete Unknown's Timothée Chalamet, Sing Sing star Colman Domingo, Conclave actor Ralph Fiennes, and The Apprentice star Sebastian Stan. The coveted Best Film award was a race between erotic drama Anora, gritty historical drama The Brutalist, Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, religious drama Conclave, and controversial musical Emilia Pérez - which has been panned by Mexicans for failing to cast any native stars in the film, while lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón also sparked controversy as historic tweets came back to haunt her.

Karla was up for Best Actress against Demi Moore, who starred in The Substance, Hard Truths actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Anora's Mikey Madison, and The Outrun's Saoirse Ronan for the Best Actress award. The ceremony was hosted by David Tennant - who was thrilled to be invited back to oversee the ceremony after he helmed the 2024 awards. He said when his role was confirmed: “It’s a lark! The night went past in a bit of a blur last year, but it was so much fun. It feels like a real privilege to be part of it, and to get another crack at something so exciting is a real joy.”.

He added: “I also didn’t want anyone to think I hadn’t been asked back, so I thought I’d better say yes! Luckily this is not what I do for my day job – if it all goes wrong I’ll just go back to pretending to be other people.”. Early winners on the night included Kieran Culkin who won best supporting actor for his role in A Real Pain and Zoe Saldana who won best supporting actress for her work in Emilia Pérez. Dune: Part 2 scooped an award for best sound and Wicked won for best production design.
