Emmerdale actress Roxy Shahidi's future has been "confirmed" following the tragic death of her character Leyla Harding. Roxy portrayed the beloved ITV soap character for nearly 17 years, and her heart-wrenching departure was aired during Wednesday's (February 19) episode, now available on ITVX.

The limo disaster left several villagers in peril. After the vehicle crashed into an icy lake, Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) died instantly from a head injury sustained in the accident. Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson) fell through the ice into the freezing water, while Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) was unconscious and looking worse for wear. Away from the lake, Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) collapsed under mysterious circumstances.

Meanwhile, Leyla was severely injured and bleeding out, despite Kerry Wyatt's (Laura Norton) best efforts to save her. In gut-wrenching scenes, Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) frantically searched the hospital for his mum, only to be confronted with the devastating truth and forced to bid a painful farewell to Leyla, who has been a staple in the Emmerdale village for almost two decades. But what does the future hold for the actress?, reports Leeds Live.

Rochelle White, a brand and culture expert from Rochelle White Agency, speculated: "I think that Roxy Shahidi will take a break as she has been on our screens for a while. "I could see her doing shows like I'm a Celeb, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Bake Off or even SAS. I think it would make sense as the next steps and also part of the break from acting.

"When actors leave shows, they tend to do something like this, so that people see a different side to them and we get to see a bit more personality.". The drama in the village is far from over but who will make it through this? And who is still in danger?.
