Josef Fritzl, Austria's most infamous prisoner, has been held in psychiatric detention in a high-security unit since he was sentenced to life behind bars in 2009 for his heinous crimes. He fathered seven children by his daughter Elisabeth while keeping her as a sex slave in the basement of his home in Amstetten. Elisabeth, now 58, was locked in the dark, damp and dingy cellar for 24 years and raped by Fritzl thousands of times, with the horrific story sending shockwaves around the globe.

Fritzl, who now has dementia, recently shared his harrowing requests for a life outside of prison if he were ever to be freed, which is bound to leave his victims terrified. His lawyer, Astrid Wagner, told local media: "Every day, he dreams of having his own house or apartment." He also claimed Fritzl no longer felt confident driving, so his future house or apartment would have to be near a train station and " have a basement".

The rapist reportedly has a cell piled high with all sorts of boxes full to the brim with paperwork. He also claimed he would need a cellar to store them if he was released from jail. Huete reports that he said: "You know, I have so many files, documents, and memories.".

An Austrian court previously ruled that Fritzl could be transferred to a regular prison but stated that his release from incarceration entirely was unlikely. Over a year ago, Fritzl bizarrely alleged he was a good father during a parole hearing, despite keeping Elisabeth captive for more than two decades.
