Film fans have been sent into a frenzy following the release of a brand new trailer for the upcoming epic Jurassic World: Rebirth, which teases a terrifying and twisted new creature. The latest film in the series, slated for a July release in the UK, comes three years after the conclusion of the Jurassic World trilogy and boasts a script from original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. The film follows an 'extraction team' who are sent to recover dinosaur DNA that has life-saving properties for humankind. Scarlett Johansson stars as covert operations expert Zora Bennett, while Bridgerton and Wicked's Jonathan Bailey plays palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis.

According to the synopsis: "The planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.".

It all goes awry when the team encounter a family who have had their boat capsized by aquatic dinosaurs, with the group ending up marooned on an island that once housed an undisclosed research facility for the ill-fated Jurassic Park. The island is populated by a range of dinosaurs, including some mutant species that have been left to their own devices. There, the team "come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.".

Jurassic World: Rebirth is set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, which explored how dinosaurs and humans could live together. While it was touted as the final film in the Jurassic World trilogy, it was described by producer Frank Marshall as the "start of a new era.". And that new era appears to star some big, mutant dinosaurs. As the trailer release today (February 5) shows, there's a giant nemesis which resembles one of the Xenomorph's from Alien - and that is no mistake. According to Rebirth's director, Gareth Edwards, his inspiration came from the Alien franchise, Star Wars and of course from Jurassic Park's original bloodthirsty giants.
