Ring in 2025 with one of the most stomach-clenching thrillers of the 2010s now available at no extra cost to Netflix subscribers in the UK. Now our annual binge of Christmas classics and holiday TV specials is over, movie buffs will be on the lookout for the best streaming options to keep them hooked during these long winter evenings.

Look no further than Netflix, as the platform has just added a vast range of new films and shows for the start of the new year. From Denzel Washington-led heist film Inside Man to Austin Butler’s Oscar-nominated turn as Elvis Presley in the 2022 biopic, there are plenty of options for streamers looking for a quiet weekend in front of the telly.

However, adrenaline junkies looking for something a little more daring should look no further than Don’t Breathe, one of the best thrillers of the past few years. Director Fede Álvarez helmed the 2016 hit, who recently revamped the Alien franchise with last year’s Alien: Romulus, and it’s since developed a passionate cult following.

Starring Stephen Lang as a blind veteran, a trio of young thieves’ plan to rob his house takes an unexpected turn when he discovers the break-in and uses every skill at his disposal to defend his property. One chilled reviewer on Letterboxd wrote: “Don't Breathe does exactly what it sets out to do and that's to f***ing terrify the audience, make you s*** your pants, make you cry, and/or make you crawl up into the foetal position.
