If you'd take a Big Mac over a turkey Christmas dinner, then you may be wondering when your local McDonald’s is open over the next few days. The fast food chain doesn't have set opening hours, as each location is run slightly differently - but we've checked several locations so you have a good idea what to expect. There are two bank holidays next week, Christmas Day is on Wednesday, then Boxing Day is on Thursday, then the following week, we've got New Year's Day on Wednesday.
McDonald’s has more than 1,400 branches - and of these, approximately 80% are franchised, which means they can choose their own hours. You should enter your postcode into the McDonald's restaurant locator online tool to check the opening times of your nearest branch.
But to give you a rough idea, we've searched some locations across the country to check when they'll be open. For example, the McDonald's in West Quay Retail Park in Southampton is open from 5pm until 9pm on Christmas Eve, then it is closed on Christmas Day and will reopen from 8am on Boxing Day.
McDonald's in Grainger Street in Newcastle is open until 9pm on Christmas Eve, then closed on Christmas Day and open again from 8am on Boxing Day. The McDonald's in Clacket Lane service station on the M25 is open until 8pm on Christmas Eve, then shut on Christmas Day and open from 7am on Boxing Day.
It comes as McDonald's has just announced its January menu - with three new items arriving from January 8 for a six-week period. First up, there is the new Chicken Katsy One wrap which consists of either a crispy or grilled chicken, covered in katsu sauce, alongside crispy onions, cucumber, and fresh lettuce, wrapped in a toasted tortilla.
