Alitia Thoburn, a 20 year old tattoo enthusiast from Bristol, has boldly declared she "regrets nothing" about her impulsive decision to get a face tattoo, despite often being judged by strangers as "stupid" and a "criminal". Since the age of eight, Alitia has harboured a passion for tattoos.

It was during a session with her fiancé, Jonathan Saunders, 37, who was tattooing her arm, that they spontaneously chose to extend the design onto her face. The striking ink stroke reaches down to her collarbone, merging with her other tattoos. Despite online trolls criticising her for "ruining her face" and claiming "nobody is going to be with her", the brush-like inking remains one of Alitia's favourites. She expressed her frustration with the stigma around tattoos, saying: "'I don't understand why people always thought that tattoos meant you are a thug or criminal. I always thought it could be something positive like a memorial or something you simply enjoy. I'm lucky enough to have a face tattoo.".

About the unexpected tattoo session, she added: "I did not know it was going to happen it just felt right. I don't have any regrets about it.". Alitia began her journey into tattooing at 14, using a stick and poke kit she bought online, reports Bristol Live.

By 18, she started an apprenticeship and now works full-time at a studio in Oxfordshire. With over 50 hours under her belt tattooing her body, Alitia took the plunge with her first face tattoo in May 2023. She had been mulling over getting a face tattoo for some time, but was initially focused on completing the rest of her body first. However, when she sat down with Jonathan for an arm tattoo, he spontaneously suggested, ''why don't we just do the design on your face then?.
