A recent maths puzzle shared online requires you to put your school cap back on and remember those dreaded algebra lessons. Although it might seem straightforward to some - all you have to do is fill in one blank number - there's a bit of a working out to do to first to find the correct answer. Social media user Pro Brain Teaser posted yet another tricky brainteaser earlier this month on X (formerly Twitter) and had more than 300 responses from their eager followers.

The question simply asked the equation: "B+C=60, B-C=40, B/C=?" Before you start to pull you hair out in confused desperation, take a moment to step back and think about the numbers and letters in front of you logically. The easiest tactic is to first work the value of letter B, which will then be able to tell you what value the letter C corresponds to. Then you can just divide what you have to discover the missing number.

Answers left on X ranged from '2' all the way up to '20' - but there was one particular number that was overwhelming. As this user explained: "Let’s say B is 50 and C is 10: 50+10=60; 50-10=40; 50/10=5". That's right, the answer is five as B equals 50 and C = 10. The vast majority of users were clearly up on their algebra, with one person even stating that this puzzle was, "very, very easy".
