Ozzy Osbourne has shared a pretty unorthodox Christmas tradition. The 76-year-old opened up about one Christmas during which he downed 28 gallons of beer because he ‘f***ing hates Christmas.’. The Black Sabbath icon has previously been open about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction throughout his career, but has been mostly sober in recent years.

While the musician occasionally smokes marijuana and has been ‘tempted to return to stronger drugs’ amid his ongoing health woes, his indulgences are nothing compared to his wild past. In a recent interview, Osbourne recalled that in the midst of his hard partying years, he’d drink heavily to avoid having to engage with the festive season.

The Sun quoted him as saying: ‘I f***ing hate Christmas. It gets right up my a***hole.’. One year, he shared, he was so annoyed by the manufactured joy of the holiday season he drank the equivalent of 224 pints. He said: ‘When I used to do booze and get f****d up, I bought a barrel with 28 gallons of booze for me. I drunk it before it was Christmas f***ing Eve.’.
Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2020, a condition that affects the brain and includes symptoms such as shaking and stiffness, and has largely abstained from drugs and alcohol since. He has also dealt with neck and back issues following a quad bike accident in 2003, as well as a fall in 2019 which led to multiple surgeries.
