A video caught the terrifying moment an air rage passenger brandished a knife at 33,000ft demanding wine and vodka. Other passengers fled from their seats as the wild Russian man furiously confronted the crew, flashing the blade. The Boeing 737 flight to resort Sochi was high over the Caspian Sea when the economy class traveller identified only as Lev K, 63, on Ikar Airlines waved around his knife. He demanded a window seat as well as wine and vodka, and threatened fellow passengers as well as the crew. A male crew member sought to pacify him.
A female flight attendant looked on, deeply worried. The passenger at one point rammed the blade into the overhanging baggage rack. Male passengers were ready to overwhelm the knifeman but crew urged caution fearing a bloodbath on the flight. The male attendant said: “I'm just...I'm asking you. What can I get you?” The aggressive passenger demanded: “Wine.” “But if I bring you wine, you give me the knife,” the crew replied, to which he said, “no”.
The attendant said: “Why not?” The unruly passenger denied he wanted to hijack the aircraft. “We'll all fly. We'll all land,” he said. He demanded: “Come on, bring vodka or wine.” The crew member said: “Sit down, we'll bring everything.” He responded: “Come on, bring it.”. Reports said the captain weighed up an emergency landing but finally decided to continue to Sochi. On landing, the knifeman was detained by Russian police and taken into custody.
