This Morning's Craig Doyle was quick to jump to Meghan Markle's defence as her latest project sparked controversy online. The Duchess of Sussex is set to star in her own Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. The programme will feature Meghan in the kitchen and garden, preparing to entertain both old and new friends. Alongside sharing advice on cooking, gardening and crafting, viewers can expect a host of celebrity guests throughout the series.
However, the initial trailer for the show has not been well received by many. Discussing the reaction on Friday's This Morning, host Craig Doyle was quick to defend Meghan. Guest Mercy Muroki highlighted that the Duchess wasn't using her own home for the show, despite the premise being about inviting viewers into her house, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Instead, it's filmed in a 5 million mansion near her residence. Mercy commented: "I think it's controversial because for me, this idea that celebrities, I think she lives in this 16-bedroom in Montecito, or something like that, celebrities who have millions of pounds at their disposal, they come along and they tell ordinary people, 'This is how you can live well'. Yeah, you can live well when you have millions of pounds at your disposal.".
Contrarily, Tim Campbell argued: "She has to make money, she's using her brand and her personality to make cash for her family! To be clear, if you saw my house after Christmas, I wouldn't want anyone in my house!". Tim voiced hos opinion, continuing: "The reality is, I don't mind that she's making money, she's going to use her influence, hopefully to bring to the fore some interesting subjects, particularly, mainly amongst women, about women's health, I think that's a good thing to do.".
