A spokesperson for the police force Susanna Rinaldo, said: ‘We are unable to comment on the potential motive.’. Rinaldo confirmed the arrests were not made inside the compound itself, adding the suspects will now be interrogated. It is thought the arrested are two women and a man, according to Sweden Herald citing the Prosecution Authority. Other sources said the group were three men.

The country’s police force stepped up security around the Israeli embassies after a series of threats. Shots were fired at Stockholm’s embassy in October last year, but nobody was injured. Two explosions were reported just over a day later near the Israeli embassy in central Copenhagen.

A pair of Swedish teenagers, aged 16 and 19, were arrested and charged with possessing hand grenades and detonating them near the embassy. Yesterday German police arrested a teenager on suspicion of planning an attack on the Israeli embassy in Berlin. The 18-year-old Russian national appeared in a Brandenburg court today and was remanded in custody.
