An Oscar-winning drama starring Jim Carrey is leaving Netflix in a matter of days, despite boasting an almost-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was released in March, 2004, and became an instant hit – with critics and fans alike heaping praise on Michel Gondry’s masterpiece.

Jim led the cast as Joel Barish alongside Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood and Tom Wilkinson. The film followed Joel, who learned that his ex-girlfriend, Clementine Kruczynski (Kate), had undergone a secret procedure to erase her memories of their relationship, and set out to do the same.

It earned huge praise when it premiered and won the Oscar for best original screenplay, while Kate earned a best actress nod for her efforts, as well as Bafta and Golden Globe nominations. Unfortunately for some, Eternal Sunshine is leaving Netflix in the US on December 31, which means you might want to act fast if you want to stream the devastating movie.

It will still remain on the UK version for now, and is also available on Peacock in America. The movie currently boasts a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 92%, compared to a critics ranking of 94%. A J wrote: ‘Achingly tender yet funny. One of the most beautiful films of all time.’.
