Amy Nuttall, known for her roles in Emmerdale and Downton Abbey, is set to appear in the finale of the latest season of Silent Witness. The 42 year old actress will be playing the character Peggy in the two-part finale airing on 3rd and 4th February on BBC One, marking the end of the 28th series of Silent Witness. The Blackburn-born star has had a successful acting career, with notable roles including Chloe Atkinson in Emmerdale from 2000 to 2005, Ethel Parks in Downton Abbey, Lisa Castleton in ITV's Mr Bates vs The Post Office, and Jane Butterfield in the hit film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Amy trained at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and performed with the National Youth Music Theatre in the 1990s. She also holds the record as the youngest actress to ever understudy and play the lead role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, having been just 17 years old at the time. Away from the screen, Amy is a devoted mum to a daughter and a son, who she keeps away from the public eye.
She shares her children with ex-husband Andrew Buchan, an actor and writer known for his roles in Broadchurch, Party Animals, The Fixer and Garrow's Law. Most recently, he starred in six episodes of Netflix's Black Doves, reports Plymouth Live. Amy and Andrew said their vows in 2012, but unfortunately, they separated towards the end of 2022. News about their split surfaced in February 2023, with claims that it was the second time the pair had chosen to go their separate ways.
