YOUR collection of Blu-ray DVDs could be worth a fortune, with some classic boxsets now fetching up to £1,250 on Ebay. Just weeks ago, LG announced it would stop making Blu-ray players, following similar moves from Oppo in 2018 and Samsung in 2019. While we may be witnessing the beginning of the end for Blu-rays, certain discs have become collector's items.
The Ghostbusters movies are not hard to find, so you may have the boxset lurking in your house somewhere. This 4K Blu-ray boxset can go for up to £175 on Ebay - all because it is the only remaining evidence of the preview cut for the first movie. The Ultimate Collection, to date, is the only way to get your hands on this version of the first movie.
The preview cut features alternative takes, missing effects and roughly nine minutes worth of scenes that didn't make the final cut. Terminator 2 is a classic movie, and isn't particularly rare. However, a specific edition that includes a robot head bonus item is currently listed for £1,250 on Ebay.
The Predator 3D Blu-ray DVD is in a similar position, where one copy is being sold for £209.99 on Ebay. Not only is it up for sale at a premium price because it is a 3D home release - but because it comes with a Predator bust. This spooky two-disc boxset was a limited edition - but it could easily be gathering dust on a shelf somewhere at home.
