Manchester United hero Dwight Yorke says Arsenal should ‘bang £100m on the table’ for a Premier League star ‘if they want to win the title’. The Gunners have come agonisingly close to ending their long wait for a Premier League trophy over the last two seasons, finishing narrowly behind Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking Manchester City.
Following a dismal run of form, Man City do not appear to be standing in Arsenal’s way for the title this season, though other challenges have emerged to potentially leave Arteta frustrated. Arsenal have only lost twice in the league this season but plenty of draws has left the Gunners third in the table going into the festive period, four points behind high-flying Chelsea and six adrift of leaders Liverpool.
The north London club may look to strengthen Arteta’s squad during the January transfer window to boost their hopes of lifting the Premier League trophy and Yorke says they should splash £100m on Alexander Isak. Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with a move for the Newcastle United striker and Yorke says he would score ‘so many goals’ at the Emirates Stadium.
