While Arsenal will be desperate for a senior player to come in and affect the team immediately, the Gunners look like they could be adding a youngster to the squad after opening talks to sign Norwegian starlet Sverre Nypan. The 18-year-old wonderkid had been identified by Arsenal officials earlier this month after. tracking the Rosenborg prospect in the Norwegian side's academy.
Nypan has also generated interest from Manchester United and Manchester City, but Arsenal are understood to be leading the race to sign him after "advancing" in talks, according to the Athletic. However, it's believed a deal is still far from being sorted out with a firm decision on his future not yet being made - with the race for his signature remaining open.
Last year, he talked up a move to Manchester United, which may disappoint Arsenal fans. He said: "It would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United. I'm aware United has shown some interest. But I'm quite adamant that I don't want to open that door yet. I want to focus on Rosenborg and not think too far ahead.".
