Arsenal are yet to make any new signings in the January transfer window, but could now be forced to act in a bid to save their season. The Gunners currently sit six points behind top of the table Liverpool in the Premier League, lost the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Newcastle 2-0 and have now been knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United.

Gabriel Jesus also picked up a suspected knee injury against United and he will now join the likes of Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Ben White on the sidelines. As a result, Arsenal may have to strengthen their squad this month and Mirror Football has taken a look at the rumours surrounding the Emirates.

Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini has emerged as a target for Arsenal, according to reports from Italy. Italian outlet La Repubblica, as per Sport Witness, state that Roma are evaluating his future given Pellegrini's contract expires in 2026. Napoli and Inter Milan are both said to be interested in the midfielder, but Arsenal are also in the race.

It is claimed Pellegrini is more likely to leave Roma in the summer and he may well represent a value signing for the Gunners due to his contract situation. Jorginho is out of contract at the end of the season and ESPN are reporting that his agent, Joao Santos, has held talks with Palmeiras about a move.

Earlier this moth, Arteta said that contract talks with Jorginho and fellow midfielder Thomas Partey have been delayed as he wants to focus on the remainder of the campaign. "Idon’t want to start to have these conversations now, I want to have these conversations much later because the focus has to be on what we have to do in the season," he said.
