Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 clean up among controversial Game Awards nominees

THE Game Awards are the Oscars of gaming, and the nominees for the 2024 awards have just been announced. Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth picked up the most nominations with seven each, though Metaphor: ReFantazio was not far behind with six. Balatro and Silent Hill 2 both earned five nominations and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Helldivers 2, Hellblade 2, Black Myth: Wukong, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree all earned four.

Elden Ring was a particular surprise as it’s the first year that DLC has been nominated for Game of the Year. The Game Awards are set to return on December 12, 2024, when the winners will be announced. You can also click on the names of the nominated games to read our reviews.
