BBC Escape to the Country fans tell BBC to 'read the room' over celebrity show

Fans of the BBC's Escape to the Country were left cold as they called on the corporation to "read the room" after feeling discontent with the latest episode. The Monday celebrity special broadcasted on December 30 found presenter Denise Nurse chauffeuring Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins and his other half, Tom, around potential dream homes in South Wales.
As Denise pulled out all the stops showing off a collection of luxurious homes in the breathtaking surroundings of the Welsh countryside, viewers at home were however unimpressed. The four featured houses, each with a price tag soaring over a million pounds, prompted viewers to take to social media platform X to express their dissatisfaction amid the challenging economic climate.
Wales Online reports one peeved fan shared: "#bbc not reading the room with these #escapetothecountry episodes are they? Pampered celebs with £7 figures to spend at a time there's a cost of living crisis and proliferation of food banks.". Another dissatisfied audience member remarked: "Having celebs on this programme brings nothing to the party, apart from having to pay an appearance fee.",.
One viewer vented: "I just love watching c**p singers looking for their new 2 million pound home.". Another fan shared: "Who on earth thought it would be a good idea during tough economic times to come up with a program where H from Steps looks at £1.5 million properties? ! Snobbery and elitism at its finest!".
