Birmingham stabbing: Everything we know after boy, 12, dies during horror knife attack

A 12-year-old boy stabbed in the stomach while walking home in Birmingham was "adored" by his friends - as police question a teenager on suspicion of his "tragic" murder. West Midlands Police revealed the heartbreaking news that Leo Ross had been walking home near Scribers Lane in Hall Green, Birmingham on Tuesday afternoon when he was attacked. He was airlifted to hospital but sadly pronounced dead at around 7.30pm.
The "funny and sweet" boy was a pupil at Christ Church C of E Secondary Academy and was a "lively and happy young man" with "many very good friends", executive head teacher Diane Henson said.. Friends of Leo held a special assembly and said prayers for the tragic youngster. One emotional school pal said: "He was a really good kid. He was nice, always a good kid. We had an assembly and we did a little worship about Leo and how he was kind and all that stuff. And we prayed for him.
"He was a good kid, he'd always do his work. He always liked Science. And he was so nice to everyone and was always welcoming. These boys, his close friends, told us what happened and he got stabbed, and I was really upset. Everyone was really upset and teachers I know were really upset too.".
Leo's family said he had been walking a 10-minute route home when the attack happened. The schoolboy was stabbed in the stomach and found near Scribers Lane in the Hall Green area of Birmingham on Tuesday afternoon at around 3.40pm. He was quickly airlifted to hospital but tragically died just a few hours later at around 7.30pm, according to West Midlands Police. Flowers were left at the scene along with heartfelt messages. They read Leo was "loved by many people" and "our lives won't be the same without you".
