Body found in hunt for missing woman, 24, last seen entering a taxi

Police have found a body in the hunt for a 24-year-old woman who was last seen entering a taxi. Lacey Lake went missing at around 6pm on Friday evening from the Stonehouse, Plymouth, area. She was last seen entering a grey Mercedes taxi. Devon and Cornwall police were called to the Tamerton Foliot area of North Plymouth over a concern for welfare.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and found Ms Lake’s body. Paramedics announced the 24-year-old dead shortly after their arrival. Ms Lake, who was reportedly a Type 1 diabetic, is believed to have had no insulin with her at the time of her disappearance.

Her family have been informed of the death, despite the body not yet being formally identified as hers. Police have described the woman’s death as ‘unexplained,’ but are not currently treating it as ‘suspicious.’. Ms Lake’s family took to Facebook to pay tribute to the ‘loved beyond words’ 24-year-old.

Her aunt, Sara French, wrote on Facebook: ‘It is with a broken heart I need to inform my friends and family Lacey Lake has sadly passed away and her body was found yesterday. ‘Lacey you was loved beyond words and I don’t no how we are ever going to get past this I just hope your at peace with your mum.

‘Love you always our mini xxxx.’. A police statement following the discovery of the body read: ‘Police searching for a missing woman from Plymouth have today, 7 January, located the body of a female. ‘Officers were called around 1.20pm following concerns for the welfare of the woman in Linton Close, Tamerton Foliot.
