A boy, 13, has died suddenly at a school in South Wales. The unnamed teenager was found at the Melin Primary School in Neath, a town about six miles northeast of Swansea. The teen’s next of kin have been informed. His death is not being treated as suspicious. The council said the school on Herbert Road was closed yesterday but re-opened today. Officials said: ‘We are extremely saddened to hear this tragic news and our thoughts go out to the family, South Wales Police officers are currently investigating and the council will offer any possible assistance.’.
Acting headteacher Danielle Harris wrote to parents and guardians, saying: ‘We want to inform you that Melin Primary School (infant and junior sites) will reopen [today] following a tragic incident that occurred on the school grounds in the early hours of this morning. ‘We understand that recent events have been distressing, and we want to assure you that the wellbeing of our students, staff and wider school community remains our top priority.
‘Support services will be available at the school to assist anyone in need. If your child requires additional support please do not hesitate to reach out to us. ‘We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time’.
