Boy, 2, killed and four adults injured after hit and run ‘involving stolen Porsche’ in Smethwick

A toddler has been killed and four other people were taken to hospital after a hit-and-run in West Midlands. A young boy has died after the shocking crash last night on Dartmouth Road in Smethwick shortly before 11pm. An urgent hunt is underway for the driver of a grey Porsche Cayenne – which is thought to have been stolen – after it smashed into another car with devastating consequences.

The driver was told to make the ‘right’ decision and hand themselves in, the police said. Four adults and a two-year-old boy were rushed to hospital following the crash. But despite the efforts of the medical teams, the child died. A 29-year-old woman, and a 30-year-old man remain in a serious condition. Another man and a woman, both aged 30, are stable.
The driver of a grey Porsche Cayenne fled the scene, the police said. It is thought to have been travelling from the island on Kenrick Way before it hit the Toyota. Further checks on the Porsche revealed it was stolen earlier this month. Now detectives have spoken to witnesses while CCTV is being collected in and around the area.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: ‘Our thoughts remain with the family of the little boy at this extremely difficult time. ‘I would urge the driver of the Porsche to do the right thing and come and talk to us. They made the wrong decision to run away and I’m asking them now to make the right one.
