The Chase fans were on tenterhooks during the nail-biting finale of the Christmas episode, as the celebrity contestants were in with a chance of winning a massive amount for charity. The festive special of the game show, which aired tonight (December 25), saw host Bradley Walsh joined by actor Tony Maudsley, Olympic trampoline champion Bryony Page, actress Kerry Godliman and Pointless presenter Alexander Armstrong.

The team of four managed to rack up a prize fund of £116,000 throughout their stint on the show, with all of them making it to the final chase. They were joined by Chaser Jenny Ryan, also known as The Vixen, at the end of the episode, who had to catch up with their 23-question head start to beat them - a goal that Bradley described as 'tight'.

"Some target that," Bradley started, as Jenny praised: "Sensational work, a great team performance. I mean, I knew I was up against it but you really pulled together when it counted there.". The Chaser got 13 answers right in a row, leaving the celebrities looking deflated. However, with about 50 seconds left, she answered a question about which Prime Minister was the first to serve King Charles incorrectly, guessing 'Rishi Sunak'.

Her mistake gave the celebrities an opportunity to push her back and increase their chances of bagging their hefty prize pot. They provided the correct answer, Liz Truss, to cheers from the studio, marking the start of a downward spiral for The Chaser, reports the Liverpool Echo.
