Claw machine expert shows 'secret' three-step method to win every time

Arcade games are really nostalgic - and no doubt bring back memories of spending countless coins trying to win a cuddly toy. One of the most popular games in the arcade is the claw machine, or the crane machine, where players control a claw and try to pick up a prize after inserting tokens or coins. Usually there's a joystick or other controls, and players try to position the claw over the prize they want, so it then lowers down, hopefully hooks on, before raising it up and dropping it into the prize chute.
But as fun as an afternoon at the arcade can be, many of us end up leaving disappointed after spending lots of time at the claw machine - only for it to drop the toy every time it gets anywhere near the exit point. Or you might even find it impossible for the claw to clamp down on the toy at all.
But your luck might change, as there are some clever ways to improve your chances of winning. An arcade worker, who shared tips and tricks on the @arcadefriends TikTok page, has shared three tips which can help you win from the machine. Firstly, you might instinctively aim for the bigger parts of the toy, thinking there is more to grab onto, but according to the expert, it's better to aim for the smaller parts. "In order to get a good grab it's important for the claw to completely close around the plush. This is impossible if you're aiming for a large part of the plush, like the head," they explained.
If you're not in a good position to grab a smaller part of the toy you can use the "swinging" method to change the way the claw rotates. By using the joystick in a swinging method, the expert was able to position the claw over the smaller part of the toy's body.
