Coleen Rooney says that she felt ashamed when Wayne Rooney showed off his new tattoo in tribute to her at a party. The couple have been together since they were both 16 before Wayne popped the big question at the age of 18 in 2003, with a reported £46,000 emerald-cut diamond ring. The couple tied the knot in 2008 at a lavish ceremony in Portofino, Italy, where both Westlife and Stereophonics played sets.

The couple has since welcomed four children, Kai Wayne, Klay Anthony, Kit Joseph, and Cass Mac, and has been married for 17 years. According to Coleen, Wayne knew that the two were going to be "together forever" from very early on in their relationship.

However, she was mortified by an incident that took place after Wayne decided to get her name tattooed onto his shoulder in his teenage years. Coleen recalled on the Stick to Football podcast alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Roy Keane and Ian Wright: "We were going to an 18th.

"One of our friends was turning 18 - he was a bit older than us. And that day, I got a phonecall and it was his [Wayne's] cousin. He said, 'Do you spell your name with one L or two Ls?'. I was like, 'One L, why?' he went, 'Oh I'm just in the town with our Wayne, he's getting a tattoo'. I was like, 'Oh, whatever.'".

As the hosts erupted with laughter, Coleen added: "So I walk in, and here he is with his top up like that going round every table in the thing. And I was like, 'Ah I feel ashamed here, he's got it. He has got it'. And he said, 'No, it's fine. We'll be together forever.'" Never one to miss out on quick wit, Scott then joked: "Did you tell him you spell it with two Ls?" much to the amusement of Coleen.
