Coronation Street’s Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) fears her home going up in smoke too as an inferno rips through the Platts’ house this week. A spoiler video for Monday’s much-hyped episode has revealed the moment the residents of the cobbles find out that No. 8 is ablaze.
As Sarah and Bethany Platt (Tina O’Brien and Lucy Fallon) run out of the Bistro, they find Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) and Max Turner (Paddy Bever) frantically worrying more of their family could be stuck inside the burning house. Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) then comes rushing out from next door to find wife Sally watching on in horror as the fire takes hold. She then suggests that she and Tim should go and retrieve their valuables, concerned about the possibility of the blaze spreading.
‘I’m not going in there looting for a few chipped plates and a pot rabbit,’ Tim tells her. ‘Looting?’ Sally replies. ‘That’s our house, Tim! I’m talking about rescuing photographs, what do you take me for?. ‘And that rabbit is a Lladro,’ she remarks. Spoilers for next week’s episodes have already revealed that danger strikes even before the blaze, with a scary showdown between Abi Webster (Sally Carman) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) leading to the latter being left in a bad way.
But it’s not just Toyah who is in serious peril, with the fire eventually causing an explosion, with Max caught in the blast. In the aftermath, David (Jack P Shepherd) instantly comes under suspicion given his money issues. However, when matches are found on a hungover Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), the situation takes an unexpected turn…. Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first from 7am on ITVX.
