"We decided to add a bathroom to this room, while installing drain I came across a very suspicious area on the concrete where clearly someone had previously patch.
However, social media users blasted the man for his "shoddy camera work" - as viewers are unable to get a good idea of the space.
Despite this, the room appears to be empty but its walls have been painted, suggesting it was previously used as a store room of sorts.
He said on Reddit: "We did research at the county office and there are no previous records for any permits expedited for this property besides a water heater 30 years ago.
