David Moyes is back at Everton but he will find a very different club than the one he left in 2013 to become Manchester United manager. The obvious one is the new ownership as Moyes miss the whole Farhad Moshiri era and the club is now in the hands of The Friedkin Group, a US firm led by Dan Friedkin, a Hollywood stunt man and producer. But he will also find a club far away from the one he left which was mixing it in the top half of the Premier League table.
Everton are again in a relegation battle after a dreadful first half of the season and Moyes will have a lot to contend with to revive the Toffees. Mirror Football takes a look at four things in the returning manager’s in-tray ahead of his first game back against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
The Everton fans respected the job Sean Dyche did in his first two seasons at the club as he juggled the fallout of Moshiri’s reign and financial chaos while keeping the Toffees in the Premier League. Blues fans have been at odds with the club for some time with board members made unwelcome at Goodison Park under the previous regime.
Then this season many completely turned against Dyche as there was not only no improvement in results, but the football got harder to watch. While Dyche did a great job over two seasons, it was the time to part ways. That has left a club with a new ownership but fans who are hesitant to fully back their new owners.
